The imidazole compounds of the general formula II represent valuable intermediates for preparing pharmacologically active compounds. They are obtained by reacting a compound of the formula I in an organic solvent under basic conditions with a compound of formula R2-H. The symbols used in the general formulae I and II are defined in Claim 1. IMAGE
