ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREThe invention relates to methods for medicinaldiagnosis and to substance for obtaining such diagnoses.More specifically the substances are visualization polymersof molecules such as proteins, enzymes, and chemically taggedpolyols, polyolefins, carbohydrates and natural or syntheticpolypeptides, which can be combined with biological materialand provide substantial chemical amplification of thequantity of material detected. The specification disclosesa method for visualizing the presence of aninorganic or organic target molecule in a biologicalmaterial, which comprises:combining said target with a visualizationpolymer comprising multiple units of a visualizationmonomer directly bonded together or linked by a couplingagent through chemical groups or backbone moieties ofsaid units;said visualization monomer having at least onevisualization site and being selected from an enzyme, atagged natural or synthetic polypeptide, a taggedpolyol, a tagged polyolefin or a tagged carbohydrate;said chemical group being a amine group, anoxidized 1,2-diol group, a carboxy group, a mercaptangroup, an hydroxy group or a carbon-hydrogen bond;said backbone moiety being an amide bond, acarbon-carbon bond, a carbon-oxygen bond, or a carbon-hydrogen bond; andsaid chemical group or backbone moiety beinglocated within said monomer at a position which is atleast one atom away from the visualization site of saidmonomer.
