PURPOSE:To utilize effectively a memory by taking-in a memory having a fixed threshold difference in standard memory fetch in the pattern discrimination unit. CONSTITUTION:Sample information which comes first is taken in as standard memory a1 unconditionally, and threshold A to determine whether next coming sample information is taken in as standard memory a2 or not is set. In case of difference between a1 and a2 over A, a2 is taken in as the second standard memory; and in case of the difference between a1 and a2 below A, threshold A is updated. Thus, sample information adopted as standard memory is determined and taken in a memory from sample information which come successively. As a result, only information effective as memory can be adopted as standard memory, so that the memory can be utilized effectively.
