A test element for functional diagnosis in the anal sphincter region comprises a rod-shaped probe that can be introduced into the anus and is equipped with at least one sensor delivering measured values which can be evaluated by a connectable apparatus. The rod-shaped probe has a head designed as an electrode as the sensor. It may furthermore be provided with pressure sensors, and it has marks from which the insertion depth can be read off.
