The core limbs of such transformers are normally connected to one another by means of a lower and upper yoke, which abut against one another at the core corners at 45 DEG and in the case of which the individual laminates of different laminate layers overlap at the core corners at right angles to the 45 DEG butt joint. According to the invention, each of the yoke laminates (J1, J2) and the outer limb laminates (A1, A2) is in each case disengaged at a tip by an amount which represents a parallelogram, yoke laminates (J1, J2) and outer limb laminates (A1, A2) which are located in the same laminate layer being disengaged at the same end in each case, seen in the circumferential direction of the core. Iron cores constructed according to the invention enable partially or completely mechanised assembly of laminated iron cores for use in distribution transformers and large transformers. IMAGE
