The invention relates to an autonomously operating microcomputer, which can be integrated into ticket machines, information machines, mobile sales devices, and commercially used data processing systems. It is thus possible to operate the wide variety of devices for ticket machines, information machines, mobile sales devices, and commercially used data processing systems which are on the market via unified software. The invention comprises the tariff box having its own software, and being connected to the software of the connected device via standard interfaces. It is thus possible, for the first time, to carry out changes to the tariff structures via the software of the tariff box. The previously necessary expensive multiple developments by the ticket machine manufacturers can be avoided by the invention.
