The coiling device includes a core drum (2) which is pivotally mounted about an axis (3) on a support frame (4). A motor (8) housed within the drum drives it in rotation to coil or uncoil the hose etc. The stator (84) of the motor is fixed to the support frame, and the drive shaft (82) is connected to the drum. The stator is attached to a support member (9) which is also connected to a fixed axle stub (6) about which the drum rotates. USE - Hose coiling device e.g. for fire-fighting vehicles etc.
