The invention relates to a device making it possible to refer rapidly to an entry in a lexicon or in a dictionary. The device of the invention comprises a set of self-adhesive strips T1 able to be fixed to the pages of a lexicon and is characterised in that the strips have an elongate form and are equipped with a fold line F situated approximately in the region of their mid-part, in that the first word indicated on the page which precedes a page in question is printed on the section of the front of the strip which extends from one side of the fold line, and in that the first word indicated on the page which follows the page in question is printed on the section of the strip which extends from the other side of the fold line F, so that when the strip T1 is fixed onto a marginal part of the sheet including the page in question, in such a way that the printed sections of this strip clamp the said part of the sheet by being folded against one another, the said printed sections of the strip then projecting and being visible from outside the binding of the book.
