Process for the production of animal feeds with a high content of vegetable proteins which are protected against their degradation in the rumen, characterised in that it consists in bringing about the extrusion, under pressure at an appropriate temperature and for a relatively brief period, of a mixture of blood or extracts of animal blood and vegetable particles or materials rich in proteins, so as to obtain an intimate mixing of this mixture simultaneously with an action of shearing and disintegration of the organised elements of the blood consisting of corpuscles and platelets thereof following the abrupt evaporation of the aqueous phase contained in these corpuscules causing disruption of their cell membranes and the dispersion of the proteins which they contain at the surface of the extruded vegetable particles. The invention also relates to feeds with a high content of vegetable proteins, obtained according to the above process.
