This invention provides a net formed by intersecting cords which define meshes of a dimension of say 30 to 100 mm between intersections, the cords being made up from twisting together three or more strands, each strand being made by twisting together spun fibres of synthetic plastics materials, characterised in that metal fibres of up to 100mm in length and up to 15 microns in diameter are incorporated in the twisted strands. The synthetic fibres may be polyamide or polyester and the metal fibres are preferably of stainless steel.
