LADDERLIKE POLYTITANOXANE DERIVATIVE, ITS PRODUCTION AND SURFACE-TREATING AGENT

PURPOSE:To obtain the title derivative which is suitable as a filler in a polymeric substance/filler composite system, especially, a surface-treating agent which improves the dispersibility of carbon black in a polymeric system, and has a ladderlike structure of a specified formula. CONSTITUTION:A ladderlike polytitanoxane derivative of formula I or II (wherein X is at least one residue selected from among a 1-18C alcohol residue, a 2-3C alkylene glycol, an acetylacetone residue, an acetoacetate residue, a 1-50C fatty acid residue, a phosphoric diester residue, a pyrophosphoric diester residue and a sulfonic residue, at least three X groups are 1-6C lower alkoxyl groups, and n and m are each an integer of 1-80). It can be obtained by hydrolyzing a tetraalkoxytitanium of formula III (wherein R0 is a 1-6C alkyl group) with 1.0-1.7mol, per mol of the tetraalkoxytitanium, of water at 20-90 deg.C, distilling low-boiling matter from the mixture, adding a 1-18C monoalcohol, a 2-3C alkylene glycol, acetylacetone or the like to the remaining mixture and reacting them.
