PURPOSE:To improve the color reproducibility of the titled material by incorporating a specified magenta coupler and a specified compd. in at least one layer of a silver halide emulsion layer, thereby forming a magenta dye image which has the excellent hue and reduce sharply the absorption in a long wavelength side to zero. CONSTITUTION:The titled material contains at least one of the magenta coupler shown by formula I and at least one of the compd. shown by formula II in at least one layer of the silver halide emulsion layer. In formula I, Z is a nonmetal atomic group necessary for forming a nitrogen-contg. heterocyclic ring which may be substituted, X is hydrogen atom or a group capable of releasing by allowing to react with the oxidant of a color developing main agent, R is hydrogen atom or a substituting group. In formula II, Y is a substituting group, Ra and Rb are each alkyl, an alicyclic compd. residual group, aryl or a heterocyclic ring group, Rc is hydrogen atom, alkyl, an alicyclic compd. residual group, aryl or a heterocyclic ring group, (l) is an integer of 0-5, (m) is an integer of 1-4. Thus, the color reproducibility of the titled material is remarkably improved.
