AUTOMATIC ERROR DETECTING DEVICE FOR JAPANESE SENTENCE

PURPOSE:To shorten the processing time of the title error detecting device by referring to position information permitted to each word composing a compound word through a word dictionary to check whether the positions of those words are permitted in the compound word or not and deciding an error word if it is set at an inhibited position. CONSTITUTION:The words of a Japanese word string are recognized by a morpheme analysis using a word dictionary 50 and a grammar dictionary 40. When a compound word is detected, the permitted position information on each word of said compound word is referred to via the dictionary 50 for check whether the positions of those words are permitted or not within the compound word. Then an error word is decided if it is set at an inhibited position. Thus the divided words are checked based on their positions through the morpheme analysis. As a result, it is not required to produce previously the error information on an error character string, etc. Then the error detecting rate is improved and the processing time is shortened.
