FUEL ROD TAKEOFF APPARATUS, WITHDRAWAL OF FUEL ROD, CAPACITY REDUCER, USE OF EXTRUSION ROD AND TRANSFER OF FUEL ROD

PURPOSE: To safely and quickly operate a fuel rod taking-out device by taking a fuel rod by extrusion and guiding the fuel rod downward toward a spent fuel pool seat section during operation. CONSTITUTION: Fuel rods are extruded from a fuel rod assembly by means of a fuel rod extruding assembly 3 and the fuel rod assembly is vertically positioned at an appropriate working position by means of a fuel rod assembly positioning device 12. The extruded fuel rods are caught by means of a fuel rod catching grid 21 and sent to a storage container 31 in an intermediate container 23 in which the fuel rods are arranged in a state where the volumes of the fuel rods are reduced than those of the fuel rods while they are arranged in the fuel rod assembly. Since no tensile force is applied to the coating pipes of the fuel pipes, but compressive forces are applied in taking out the fuel rods, the coating pipes are not fractured. In addition, since the fuel rods are continuously guided downward toward the bottom of a spent fuel pool, the safety and reliability of work are improved and, at the same time, the work can be performed quickly and the exposure dose can be reduced.
