PURPOSE:To obtain the title double oxide solid soln. useful as the oxygen ion superconductive material by mixing the oxides, carbonates, etc., of Bi, Sr, and Te in a specified molar ratio, and baking the mixture in an oxidizing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:The oxides of the component metal atoms (e.g., Bi2O3 and TeO2) or the compds. (e.g., SrCO3) forming oxides on heating are mixed to obtain the mixture having the chemical composition shown by formula I (X is 0.02-0.11, Y is 0.05-0.28, and Y/X=2-6). The mixture is then baked in an oxidizing atmosphere to obtain the LaOF type bismuth-strontium-tellurium double oxide omission solid solns. (e.g., formulas II and III) having the composition shown by formula I and deficient in oxygen. The double oxide solid soln. exhibits oxygen superconductivity, and is appropriately used as the material for an oxygen sensor, etc.
