Examples of synthetic crosslinkable or thermoplastic mixts. contg. fillers for the cable industry include; (a) an insulating base material consisting of a polyolefin, a thermoplastic elastomer and suitable fillers, (b) employing the base material, mixes are prepd. for core insulation, shrouding and finishing. The insulating base (a) consists of (all wt.%-s): 1-50 amorphous heat softening elastomer vulcanised dynamically at 100 deg.C to a polyolefin elastomer of 15-80 Mooney viscosity, 50-90 polyolefin and 0.01-5 (based on the previous total) of a material supplying paramagnetic radicals.
