Preventing scale deposition in gas washing plants - with scale inhibitor and a water-soluble polymer

A compsn. used for preventing the accumulation of scale in gas washers comprises (A) a scale inhibitor and (B) a water-sol. high molecular wt. polymer with the ratio of A:B being from 1:10 to 10:1. A particular compsn. claimed comprises amino tris(methylenephosphonate) salt and a an acrylamide/2-acrylamidomethyl propane sulphonic acid copolymer or its salts in ratio from 1:5-5:1. At least 0.01 ppm of the compsn. is added to the aq. washing medium. The washing is used in many industrial heating processes to removal particles and/or gas from the vapour exit. The compsn inhibits scale deposn. in the washing chamber and feed lines, economically reducing the frequency of mechanical cleaning to a min.
