Solid prepn. of nifedipine, with high dissolution rate

A solid prepn. of nifedipine (I) comprises a finely divided compsn. obtd. by mixing (a) one or more of magnesium silicate, magnesium carbonate, dry aluminium hydroxide gel, magnesium oxide, aluminium-magnesium metasilicate, synthetic hydrotalcite and aluminium magnesium hydroxide, and (b) casein with (I), and pulverising the resultant mixt. Pref. compsn. comprises (a) (I) (1 pt. wt.), casein (1.5-2.0 pts. wt.) and magnesium silicate (0.3-5 pts. wt.) or (B) (I) (1 pt. wt.), casein (0.2-10 pts. wt.), lactose (6 pts. wt.) and magnesium silicate (0.15-3 pts. wt.).
