- 19 -PROCESS FOR REMOVING TOXIC ORGANIC MATERIALSFROM WEAK AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS THEREOFToxic or otherwise contaminating organicimpurity constituents in aqueous media such as wastewater streams from industrial processes or potablewater supplies are removed and converted to harmlessoxidation products by contacting such media with anorganophilic molecular sieve whereby the organicspecies are concentrated as adsorbates, andthereafter contacting the adsorbate-loaded molecularsieve with an aqueous solution of a compound whichhas a standard oxidation potential of at least 0.25volt in an amount and for a sufficient time toconvert the organic materials to non-toxic productssuch as CO2.
