Prodn. of hydroxy:ethylated diosmin mixts. - useful for treating intoxication

Prodn. of mixts. 5-0-(2-hydroxyethyl)-diosmin (I), 3'-0-(2-hydroxyethyl- diosmin (II) and 5,3'-di-0-(2-hydroxyethyl) -diosmin (III) is effected by reacting 1 mole of diosmin with 4.5 moles of a 2-haloethanol (IV) in an alkaline aq. medium at 15-30 deg.C. Also claimed are pharmaceutical compsn. contg. 17-27 pts. wt. (I), 28-38 pts. wt. (II) and 15-25 pts. wt. (III). Diosmin is 3',5,7,-trihydroxy-4'- methoxyflavone7- rhammnoglucoside. Pref. (IV) is 2-chloroehtanol (IVa). The reaction is effected for 18-30 hr., opt. in the presence of an alcohol solvent, esp. EtOH, i-PrOH, n-Pr-OH and./or ethylene glycol. USE/ADVANTAGE - The compsn. are useful for treating intoxication symptoms in humans and animals. The process gives mixts. of practically constant compsn., comprising 17-27% (I), 28-30% (II) and 15-25% (III).
