In order, in a pressure evaporation burner, preferably for use in a field cooking stove, with a fuel nozzle for a fuel and, adjoining said nozzle and containing a combustion chamber, a flame pipe which has air suction openings, with a compressed-air supply to the fuel nozzle for addition of air to the liquid fuel in the heating-up phase, and with an evaporator which is acted upon by the hot flame gases and flowed through by the liquid fuel, to simplify the construction and to facilitate the transition from heating-up phase to main combustion phase, it is proposed that the fuel nozzle has at least one outlet for fuel as well as at least one outlet for compressed air, which outlets are arranged in such a manner that the jets of fuel or of compressed air emerging from them meet outside the nozzle, that closing means are arranged in the compressed-air line which close the latter after completion of the heating-up phase, and that the fuel supply of the nozzle is connected only to the outlet of the evaporator.
