The invention relates to a package for the cold preservation, at a temperature of about 0 DEG C, in a non-confined ambient atmosphere, by means of ice 15, of a perishable product 12. It is characterised in that it comprises a grid 10, disposed above the bottom 5, which divides the inside volume of the package into two compartments, namely an upper compartment 23 in which the product 12 and its covering of ice 15 are disposed such that they rest upon the grid, and a lower compartment 13, in that the said package is sealed at least to liquids, at least in its lower compartment, and closed in a non-hermetic manner at the upper compartment and in that, in the lower compartment, there are disposed a mattress 11 made of a material capable of absorbing the water resulting from the melting and the liquids coming from the product itself, and a dry compound 19 of salt and sugar capable of reacting with the water provided by the melting of the ice in order, by a brining effect, to maintain the inside volume of the package at low temperature.
