Hypocycloid engine with radial distribution given a pure rotation

The invention relates to a rotary engine including an outer rotor and an inner rotor, their hypocycloid conjugate shapes of the ratio 6:5 giving rise to five chambers of variable volume. The four-stroke cycle is obtained by alternately arranging in the middle of each face of the outer rotor three spark plugs and three distributor ports. Satisfactory flow of the gases is produced by adding low-pressure fixed distributors: one, a cylindrical one, around the hollow drive shaft for the fresh gases and the other, a flat one, in the form of a half-disc for the exhaust. The shortened hypocycloid of the air-cooled outer rotor is produced by assembling circular sectors and flat connectors; the inner rotor rotates about an off-centre fixed axis and is cooled by circulation of a liquid.
