PURPOSE:To prevent the distortion, etc., of a character and a picture caused by a dot display and to realize a high visual field by providing a concave lens for bringing a light beam from each minimum display element unit to diffusion control on its unit. CONSTITUTION:A concave lens 2 whose front part is thin and whose surface is constituted of a curved surface is installed so as to cover the surface of each one-dot display unit 1 in order that a light beam of the one-dot display unit 1 is advanced in the more oblique horizontal direction, and also, many light beams are allowed to pass through by the front. Also, a space between the one-dot display unit 1 and the concave lens 2 is filled with a medium 3 for allowing the light beam from the one-dot display unit 1 to pass through in a free direction. This medium 3 consists of a substance having a lower refractive index than the refractive index of the concave lens 2 or air. Accordingly, the light beam emitted from the one-dot display unit 1 passes through the medium 3 and reaches the concave lens 2, and by the characteristic of the concave lens 2, the light beam is refracted in the diffusing direction. In such a manner, the distortion, etc., of a character and a picture caused by a dot display are generated and a high visual field is realized.
