PURPOSE:To obtain directly a number of clone plants in a short period without the need for callus as intermediate by transforming pieces of the organs of a Nicotiana tabacum with Agrobacterium rhizogenes followed by making a culture and by further putting the shoots produced to culture. CONSTITUTION:Pieces of the organs such as leaves, stems or roots of a Nicotiana tabacum are transformed with Agrobacterium rhizogenes followed by making a culture. Said culture is made, for example, in a solid medium at 25-28 deg.C and, if needed, under an illumination of 500-3000 lux or in a dark room. Thus, shoots mutually identical in terms of morphology i.e., cloned shoots are developed. Thence, said shoots are cut, being transplanted to a fresh medium similar to the former to effect root development. The resultant root-developed shoots are then transplanted to a third medium free from antibiotics and grown and, if needed, assimilated, and then taken out of the pot.
