PURPOSE: To obtain powder for flame thermal spraying which greatly improves the quality of thermally sprayed films by subjecting a compression product of a mixture composed of monotungsten monocarbide (WC), ditungsten monocarbide (W2C), Co and C specified in grain sizes and compounding ratios to sintering, then to pulverizing and classifying. ;CONSTITUTION: By weight %, 10 to 30% WC having a grain size of ≤5μ, 40 to 80% W2C having a grain size of 10 to 44μ, 8 to 25% Co having a grain size of ≤5μ and 0.5 to 3% C having a grain size of ≤1μ are mixed. The compression product obtd. by compressing this mixture is sintered. Next, the sintered product is pulverized.
