PURPOSE:To prevent a recording medium from being damaged by providing the recording area of a usage start date, that of the number of times of access, and that of an expiration date in the recording medium deteriorated due to wear, etc., and issuing an alarm when the measured results for them exceed a prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:The present date is recorded on the recording area 1 of the usage start date, and also, the recording area 3 of the expiration date is referred when the recording area 1 of the usage start date is not null and a record already exists. When the record already exist in the recording area 3 of the expiration date, the alarm is issued to a user, and when it is not, the value of the usage start date is subtracted from that of the present date, and the present date is recorded on the recording area 3 of the expiration date when an obtained value X exceeds the prescribed value, then, the alarm is issued to the user. Adversely, when the value X is within the prescribed value, a value 1 is added on the value of the recording area 2 of the number of times of access, and the present date is recorded on the recording area 3 of the expiration date when the value exceeds the prescribed value, then, the alarm is issued to the user. In such a manner, the recording medium can be prevented from being damaged.
