摘要

PURPOSE:To produce a wire rod combining the adhesive strength of secondary scales after hot rolling with mechanical descaling property before wiredrawing by forming a wire rod of specific surface roughness by using a high-carbon steel containing specific percentages of C, Si, Mn, and Ni. CONSTITUTION:A high-carbon steel wire rod in which surface roughness Ra is regulated to =1.5mu is prepared by using a steel which has a composition consisting of, by weight ratio, 0.4-0.9% C, 0.1-0.9% Si, 0.3-1.0% Mn, 0.05-0.15% Ni, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities and further containing, if necessary, 0.05-0.30%, in total, of Cr and/or V. By this method, the wire rod combining adhesive strength of secondary scales with peeling characteristic and capable of sufficiently withstanding a mechanical descaling process can be obtained.
