SYSTEM AND DEVICE FOR PREDICTING MEANING OF KANJI IDIOM

PURPOSE:To predict a meaning of a KANJI (Chinese character) idiom which is not registered yet in a dictionary by inputting the KANJI idiom and decomposing it into its constituting element KANJIs, studying the respective meanings of the element KANJIs by referring to a Chinese-Japanese dictionary, taking out the most common part and predicting it to be a meaning of the KANJI idiom. CONSTITUTION:For instance, a KANJI idiom 'SON-KEI' ('respect') is considered. In a KANJI idiom analyzing part 1, the inputted KANJI idiom 'respect' is divided into one character each and held. Subsequently, a KANJI meaning store part 3 takes out one character each of the KANJI held in the KANJI idiom analyzing part 1, refers to a Chinese-Japanese dictionary 2 and stores a meaning of the taked-out KANJI in the KANJI meaning store part 3. When an extraction of a meaning of each KANJI is ended, the most common part of the meaning stored in the KANJI meaning store part 3 is detected, and it is outputted as the meaning of the KANJI idiom stored in the KANJI idiom analyzing part 1. In such a way, when a KANJI idiom which is not registered yet in the dictionary appears, the most similar meaning of its KANJI idiom can be predicted.
