PURPOSE:To provide a heat-resistant shock and an anti-high temperature stability, shorten a positive dry distillation time and improve quality of product by a method wherein a fuel gas nozzle and/or a combustion air nozzle placed within an edge flue is formed by mullite ceramics (3Al2O3.2SiO2) having a specific porosity. CONSTITUTION:A fuel gas nozzle or a combustion air nozzle is formed of mullite ceramics (3Al2O3.2SiO2) having porosity of 15 to 40 volumetric %, a required through-hole 2 is arranged at a furnace wall 1 of an edge flue and fuel gas or combustion air nozzle 3 is placed within the edge flue. If the porosity is not more than 15 volumetric %, an effect of improving heat-resistance shock is not improved and if the porosity exceeds 50 volumetric %, the heat-resistant shock is improved. A bending strength is remarkably reduced and some problems such as a creep deformation or a gas leakage and the like may occur. Accordingly, sintered mullite having porosity of 15 to 40 volumetric % is the most suitable one for a burner.
