HYPOTHESIS CONTROL SYSTEM IN HYPOTHESIS INFERENCE SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To effectively limit a field, which is effective for problem solution, by separately controlling the couple of hypotheses to be certainly established and narrowing down a range, in which the search of a solution is executed. CONSTITUTION:When it is known that a certain fact has to be established, a couple 'Must' of the hypotheses, which is the basis of the fact, is separately stored. Namely, when it is known that a certain fact has necessity to be established, a problem resolving device 10 announces such a condition to a hypothesis controller 20 by using a 'require' operator. This operator has function to take the arbitrary fact to the argument and to register the label of the fact to the 'Must'. This function considers a virtual node to be called as a 'Minimal Must (mm)' and to give 'justification' so as to have all the nodes, which are registered as the 'require' to the node in a premis part. Thus, the search space of the solution can be effectively narrowed down and the solution can be effectively led out.
