PURPOSE:To properly carry out control of both humidity and temperature and obtain green tea leaves of good quality by controlling proper temperature and humidity of green tea leaves according to mixing, heating and correcting of hot air flow rate fed from an external firing furnace into the drum of a coarse rolling machine and a calorific value of a planar heating unit at the bottom in the drum. CONSTITUTION:Green tea leaves on the bottom in a drum 1 are heated with hot air (governing temperature and humidity of the green tea leaves) from an external firing furnace (B'0) and a planar heating unit (H) (governing only the temperature of the green tea leaves) installed in the bottom of the drum 1 of a coarse rolling machine (S). The temperature and humidity of the green tea leaves are properly controlled by mixing, heating and correcting the above- mentioned hot air flow rate (Q2) and calorific value (Q5) of the heating unit (H). Thereby, ideal moisture control of the green tea leaves 2 in 'rolling up to finishing steps' greatly influencing quality of manufactured green tea is completely practiced. Ideal moisture control in the green tea leaves can be automatically carried out even in the case of the green tea leaves 2 harvested in a period of low moisture content in the green tea leaves. As a result, manufactured green tea of excellent quality regardless of the moisture content in the green tea leaves can be obtained.
