PURPOSE:To obtain always coarsely rolled green tea leaves having a certain quality or better. and facilitate the operation of a coarse rolling process, by patterning the progress of controlled variables of controlling elements, and assigning values obtained by dividing the coarse rolling time by the total number of steps to the respective steps. CONSTITUTION:An established pattern is written in an erasable programmable read-only memory (EP ROM), and conditions are set by means of a pattern selecting switch 76 and a coarse rolling time setter 79. The time assigned to the respective steps of the established pattern is determined to control coarse rolling machines according to the controlled variables of the respective steps and time thereof. The temperature and flow rate of hot air, number of revolutions and position of the main shaft sensed by the respective sensors (95a)-(98a) are input to send correction signals to a controller 92 and controlling motors 17, 46 and 55. The values of the respective controlling elements are changed to values determined by the established pattern for each calculated step time, one after another until the set coarse rolling time is over.
