The release of active cpds. from a granular prepn. is time controlled to aid N fixing by leguminous plants. Cellulose beads forming a granular mass contain one or more of the following or similar cpds., cork, cellulose derived from straw, fodder meal, regenerated cellulose. The microporous beads of 1-6mm dia. contain channels and cavities. An aq. suspension is prepd. from 1-2.2 l/kg cellulose beads and bacteria of 10 power7 - 10 power10 germ count. Opt. the suspension may contain known nutrients, hormone-active cpds., and/or microelements. Finally active matter satd. cellulose beads are removed from the suspension
