Reagent consisting essentially of a solid support made of a hydrophobic polymer on the surface of which are covalently fixed hydrophilic side chains of formula I IMAGE in which Z is a nonhydroxylated hydrophilic organic spacer arm whose chain contains from 4 to 70 carbon atoms, Z' and Z" together denote =O, a group protecting the carbonyl group, or a group =YL in which Y denotes =N- or =@= and L denotes the residue of an amino ligand of diagrammatic formula L-NH2 or L=NH, or Z" denotes H and Z' denotes -NH-L, L being the residue of the said ligand; its preparation and its application especially to the detection of antigens in the field of medical diagnosis.
