Integral blood defoamer, reservoir, heat exchanger, and cardiotomy filter

A device for heating, defoaming, temporarily storing, and oxygenating venous blood incorporates a cardiotomy stream filter for filtering a cardiotomy stream and directing the cardiotomy stream onto the surface of the heating coil prior to fully mixing with the venous stream to avoid temperature fluctuation in the venous or arterial blood flow. The cardiotomy filter includes a vertical perforated inlet tube surrounded by a tubular defoamer and a tubular pleated filter all sealed and supported at upper and lower ends by a retainer, and is nested within a heating coil of the device. A bottom disc directs the output of the cardiotomy filter onto the heating coil.
