The silenced, double cased, ships' bow thruster duct is for use with a centrally, flexibly, mounted thruster. Both outer (1) and inner (2) tubes are stiff in bending, the latter being supported from the former by two sets of spring mountings (3) in fore-and-aft planes either side of the centreline. Mounting axes are inclined to the duct axis. The outer end of the outer tube embodies a recess (15) for mountings of flexible support and sealing rings connecting it with the belted outlet (4) of the inner tube. There is also a flexible seal between this outlet and the surrounding hull plate (5). The inner tube is lined (21) with silencing material covered by perforated cladding (19).
