The invention relates to a nuclear reactor installation arranged in a steel pressure vessel and having a helium-cooled high-temperature small reactor, a helium/helium heat exchanger and at least one helium/water heat exchanger for the generation of steam. It is the object of the invention to develop such an installation in such a way that both heat exchangers can be subdivided on their secondary side in a simple way into a plurality of systems. According to the invention, both heat exchangers are enclosed by a gas guide jacket and are arranged one under the other around the core (inner) tube. The supply and removal of the secondary medium for the lower heat exchanger - preferably the helium/helium heat exchanger - takes place via a horizontal stub which comprises two coaxially arranged tubes, the inner tube conveying the hot medium having a perforated-plate collector and the outer tube conveying the cold medium being designed as a drum-type collector. The connection conduits to the heat exchanger are sited, in the case of the perforated-plate collector, through the core tube and, in the drum-type collector, in the annular space between the pressure-container wall and the gas guide jacket. The upper heat exchanger is connected to perforated-plate collectors which are installed in the gas guide jacket by means of sliding connections.
