A description is given of a method and a measuring device for testing profile reeds and for testing the flow field of the main nozzles and relay nozzles in the profile reed, a reference nozzle, especially a relay nozzle, blowing a defined airstream at a defined angle into the air channel of the profile reed and the back-pressure in the air channel of the profile reed being measured at a distance with the aid of a measuring probe. It is the object to detect the mechanical inaccuracies of a profile reed simply and accurately and also to detect the air pressure behaviour of the relay nozzles and of the main nozzle in the air channel in a simple arrangement so that the said nozzles can be mounted already preadjusted. For this purpose, it is provided in the method that the measuring probe lies on the upper side of the air channel in a resilient, non-positive manner, presses adjustably against the base of the air channel and is arranged, with the reference nozzle, so as to be adjustable in the longitudinal direction, on a measuring slide. In the measuring device itself, provision is made for the measuring probe with the fastening body to be arranged resiliently on the measuring slide by means of a leaf spring and for the reference nozzle to be guided on the measuring slide so as to be adjustable in depth with the aid of a fine adjuster, and for the measuring slide to be provided so as to be able to be driven on its long side on a rail by means of a transport belt.
