The method involves remotely exciting the reed switch without saturation, by a magnetic field, in a hystereses zone of the switch. An output signal at terminals of the switch is measured to detect closing and opening periods of the switch. The magnetic field level is increased and reduced linearly based on variation gradients (p1, p2), respectively, between two detected successive closing and opening instants of the switch. An independent claim is also included for a bench for testing an operation of a Reed switch.
