Method of redeveloping cleaning up contaminated sites (old landfill sites)

To clean up contaminated sites, a gallery is driven in the competent rock under the landfill. From this gallery, holes are drilled upwards parallel to the base at right angles to the gallery or landfill axis according to a certain grid. These holes are grouted with a prepared emulsion of cement, fly ash and water and the soil layers are injected with it. The free landfill flank is sealed off according to another method of the applicant (P 3642786.1 of 15.12.86). The landfill flanks are stabilised in the same way as the base but with perpendicular boreholes. The landfill body is then bored perpendicularly with boreholes and likewise grouted. This leads to the removal of the existing cavities and to the compaction of the landfill body. The method is especially efficient compared with hitherto known methods. In the process, there is no pollution of the environment through shifting of the waste body and there is no health risk. Likewise, enrichment of the waste with oxygen, which occurs during shifting of the waste, is completely prevented.
