Aligning models of dentures - by providing positional and angular adjustment of dental impressions

When a dental patient is to be fitted with an upper and a lower denture, an impression is taken of the upper and lower teeth. Each impression is formed on a U-shaped piece of plastic (1) which subsequently hardens. Each impression is attached to a support (3,5) which is in turn attached to a hollow dowel (11) by means of which both impressions are attached to a common support. The hollow dowel (11) has a hemispherical end (12) and is clamped in hemi-spherical concave seat (13). This feature enables the angular positions of the two impressions to be adjusted relative to each other to achieve the correct relationship corresponding to the way the teeth come together to bite.
