Cable twisting machine, giving a left and right twist wound wire armour cladding to conductive cables etc., has a holding tube to carry the wires between the laying disc (2) and the main twisting disc (3) through an auxiliary twisting disc (4). Free-rotating perforated guide disc(s) (10) is between the laying disc (2) and the auxiliary twisting disc (4), and between the auxiliary disc (4) and the main twisting disc (3) to twist the cladding wires (21). The gap (A) between neighbouring discs in the assembly meets the conditions: A = k X L/N, where k = 0.8-1.4, L = the length of the holding tube (1), N = the number of rotations by the main twisting disc (3) in each direction. ADVANTAGE - Appts. allows the use of wires made from steel or hard copper, or optical fibres, without any special draw tension control for the holding coils.
