Ceramic material for mfr. of refractory ware consists of (%) 44-52 SiO2, 44-52 Al2O3, 0.2-0.8 Fe2O3, 0.02-0.1TiO2, 0.1-1 MgO, 0.1-0.2 CaO, 1.5-3.5K2O, and 0.5-1.5 Na2O. Ratio of SiO2 to Al2O3 is about 1:1 and fluctuates by about 50%. The material is moulded to the required shape and then is fired, after application of a glaze, in a glazing kiln at a temp. of at least 1350 deg.C.
