The subject of the invention is methods and devices for recording in succession a reference electrocardiogram then a second electrocardiogram for the same patient and for comparing them. A device according to the invention comprises a portable electronic apparatus 4 for digital recording, and an electronic reading apparatus 5 which is interposed between the electrodes 31, 32...36 and an electrocardiograph 1 during recording of a reference electrocardiogram. The patient wears the portable apparatus 4, in which he can record a second electrocardiogram during an attack, then he gives it to his cardiologist who connects the portable apparatus 4 onto the electrocardiograph 1 through the reading apparatus 5 and compares the two electrocardiograms.
