PURPOSE:To make it possible to estimate the stress value or the distorsion value in a piping system at the rear part of an abutment by measuring the stress of the piping at a pipe mount ing part within a range wherein the effect of the ground settling and the like on the piping at the rear surface part of the abutment affects the pipe mounting part, and analyzing the stress deformation of a bridge piping model based on the measured result. CONSTITUTION:A pipe line 1 is exposed at a pipe mounting part on the left side of an abut ment 5. The pipe line is embedded in the ground at the rear part, i.e. the right side of the abutment. When the rear part of the abutment is deformed by ground settling and the like, the stress in the pipe at the pipe mounting part is measured by a stress measuring means, e.g. a nondestructive stress measuring device utilizing an X ray method, a magnetostriction method or a sound elastic method. The measurement is performed within the rage wherein the effect on the underground piping at the rear part of the abutment affects on the pipe mounting part. The data are processed in a microcomputer and the like, Thus the analysis of the stress deformation of a bridge piping model is performed. The amount of the ground deformation where the result of the stress analysis agrees with the measured stress value described above is computed. The stress value or the strain value generated in the piping at the underground part is estimated based on the computed ground deformation.
