PURPOSE:To improve the operation efficiency and to eliminate a wrong editing position, etc., by displaying the hierarchical relation between files and directories on a screen and editing directories. CONSTITUTION:The screen of a display is divided into a nest information map display part A and a directory information input part B, a nest information map, i.e. the hierarchical relation between directories below the root directory and files is displayed at the nest information map display part A. The file structure is therefore clear at a glance, it is easily judged that a directory D4 to be generated is positioned under a directory D3, and a command is inputted at the directory information input part B on the display screen to easily and speedily generate the directory D4. Consequently, directories can be edited with efficiency and a mistake is hardly made.
