EXTENDED GAUSS IMAGE EXPRESSING SYSTEM AND EXTENDED GAUSS IMAGE MATCHING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To improve efficiency for searching a parameter space for matching between extended Gauss images by applying Gauss mass as distribution with a normal direction as a center together with the normal direction on the surface of an object. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the object is divided by an object surface dividing means 1. Next, the distribution of the Gauss mass is calculated based on a distribution form, which is applied in advance, by a Gauss quantity distribution calculating means 2 and the Gauss mass is plotted on a Gauss ball so as to constitute an extended Gauss image by an extended Gauss image constituting means 3. Concerning the object which shape is already known and posture and position are not known, the extended Gauss image is calculated by the above mentioned means and on the other hand, a distance (objective function) to the extended Gauss image calculated form the already known shape is calculated by a distance between extended Gauss images calculating means 4. Thus, since an induced function exists in the objective function, a let-down procedure, etc., can be used and the efficiency for the search is improved.
