METHOD FOR INTEGRATING STEEL BALL INTO SLIDE RAIL AND STEEL BALL STOPPER STRUCTURE

PURPOSE:To easily integrate balls into slide rails on which balls are integrated into clearances between sides of a lower rail and an upper rail, by caulking the outer edges of slits formed on the side wall end portions of the rails positioned outside, after the balls are inserted. CONSTITUTION:A slide rail 12 for a seat of an automobile includes a lower rail 14 fixed to the floor surface of a car body and an upper rail 16 fixed to a seat below the side surface of the seat, wherein steel balls 18 as a rolling element are disposed on the right and left by twos separately in the longitudinal direction in a clearance between the sides of the lower rail 14 and the upper rail 16. In this case, one projected emboss 20 is formed on each of side walls of both front and back end portions of the upper rail 16 formed in such a manner as to be held by the lower rail 14, and two projected embosses 20 are formed in the center thereof. On the other hand, slits 22 are formed on both front and back ends of the lower rail 12. After the balls 18 are inserted, the outer edges of the slits 22 are caulked, so that the balls 18 are prevented from falling off by caulking pieces 22a.
