PURPOSE:To improve heat-conductive property and make compactification of equipment by forming a catalyst for producing a reformed gas with a coating catalyst component on the surface of reforming region side of boundary wall between a heating region and a reforming region with heating in modest condition and forming. CONSTITUTION:For instance, a boundary part material is made of Al material and the surface is coated with zinc by electroless plating in a condition of pH =7, then Ni is subjected to electroless plating to form a reforming catalyst layer 9. Next, a previously heated heating medium is passed through a conduction-heating regions 1a, 1b and 1c to heat a catalyst material coated on the wall surface of a reforming region with conductive heating, then the catalyst is subjected to activating treatment by passing hydrogen through the reforming region, thus methanol (and water) is passed through the reforming region 2a and 2b by heating to afford a reformed gas.
